BUILDINGS ASSOCIATED WITH FREEMASONS IN GREATER VICTORIA

We think at the building at 503 Yates Street, at the corner of Yates Street and Wharf Street in downtown Victoria, dates from the 1870’s and was occupied at that time by F. Neufelder & Co.

Felix Neufelder was a member of Vancouver & Quadra Lodge No. 2 and we believe this is the building in which he died in 1879, aged 59.

503 Yates Street is now legally consolidated with the adjacent building at 1215-1221 Wharf Street, which was built in 1892 and is attributed to architect John Teague, a member of Victoria-Columbia Lodge No. 1 in Victoria.

1215-1221 Wharf Street was built in 1892 for James Yates. It has been attributed to architect John Teague, a member of Victoria-Columbia Lodge No. 1 [photo: Mark Anderson]
